“Rupert Henry Furgerson II, 74, of Madisonville, KY passed away Thursday, December 17, 2015 at the Kindred Hospital in Louisville, KY.
“Mr. Furgerson was born February 19, 1941 in Hopkins County to the late Garland and Laura Belle Moore Furgerson. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Suzanne Furgerson and two brothers, Garland Leslie Furgerson and Charles Nelson Furgerson.
“Mr. Furgerson was a member of the Grapevine Baptist Church in Madisonville, was a United States Navy Veteran, a graduate of John Hopkins University, a self employed real estate appraiser, he enjoyed genealogy and researching the Scottish descent of the Furgerson family and he published a book on it. He was a member of the Scottish Society, past president of Clan Furgerson of North America (sic), a lifetime member of the Hopkins County Historical Society and an active member in the Republican Party. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews, and one great great niece.
“He is survived by one son, Joshua (Rachael) Furgerson of Louisville; three sisters, Mary Belle (Donnie) Howell of Madisonville, Barbara (Malcolm) Cheek of Madisonville and Martha D. (Danny) Davis of Providence, KY; three grandchildren, Alexander Furgerson, Madeline Furgerson and Samuel Furgerson all of Louisville.
“Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in Grapevine Cemetery in Madisonville. Military honors will be conducted by the Hopkins County Honor Guard.”
