Biography (short version):

The Clan Fergusson Society of North America came into existence at the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games in 1972. The Society was founded for charitable purposes and to perpetuate the pride and spirit of the Fergus(s)on Scottish ancestors of its members. Sir Charles Ferguson in Scotland is the Honorary President of the Society. Billy Ferguson joined the Society in early 1974, and is it’s current and tenth President. After high school, Billy served in the United States Coast Guard from 1960 through 1964. He is a graduate of Mercer University and has done post-baccalaureate studies at several other colleges and universities. During his varied work career, he has been a professional flight instructor, a federal government employee, a computer programmer, and a public education teacher. He is very active in his community. He served for over twenty years as a volunteer search and rescue pilot with the Civil Air Patrol before retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2005. He is now very involved in his local pipe band, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and the United States Coast Guard Pipe Band. Billy is married to Cynthia Ferguson (formally Wendling). They make their home in North Georgia and they have two grown sons; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
